IDF says Khamenei killed in ‘precise, large-scale’ Israeli operation

officially announced that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in an airstrike in Tehran yesterday.

In a statement, the military said Khamenei was targeted in a precise, large-scale operation carried out by the Israeli Air Force, guided by accurate IDF intelligence, while he was in his central leadership compound alongside other senior officials.

The IDF described Khamenei, who had served as Iran’s supreme leader since 1989, as directly responsible for the violent repression of Iranian citizens over many years.

“Khamenei was the architect of plans to destroy the State of Israel and was known as the ‘head of the Iranian octopus,’ with influence stretching across the Middle East, including Hezbollah. He was responsible for terrorist attacks against Israel, and the blood of many civilians worldwide was on his hands,” the IDF said.

The military added that Khamenei’s death “brings an end to a decades-long chapter with the elimination of the leader of the Iranian terror axis,” and noted it follows a series of targeted eliminations of senior figures in the terror network carried out by the IDF during the conflict.

Israel drops 1,200 munitions on Iran, girls’ school in Minab hit

Israel’s air force said it dropped more than 1,200 munitions on Iran over the past day as part of its joint operation with the US.

Among the locations hit was an elementary girls’ school in Minab, a city in Iran’s southern Hormozgan province, where at least 148 people were reported killed and dozens more injured.

Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the attack, saying “dozens of innocent children” were killed, and warned that the act “will not go unanswered.”
